Introduction
Go Mountain Bike is a mountain bike proficiency course developed by Cycling Scotland in partnership with Scottish Cycling and CTC. The course covers 4 themes - riding skills, first aid, being independent and self supporting and sharing the outdoors. There are 5 levels of proficiency across these 4 themes.
BackYou need to have a minimum of either an MBLA Trail Cycle Leader Award or a CTC Trail Leader Award to be eligible for the Go MTB orientation.
BackYou will be able to assess candidates and issue certificates for the 5 levels of proficiency across the 4 themes.
BackA 1 day orientation into the key principles in leading candidates through the 5 levels of proficiency.
You will also learn how to administer the awards through Cycling Scotland’s excellent online database (very easy to use!)
You will be given an instructors manual which will detail what is expected of candidates at each level.
BackThere is some post course admin to issue certificates, but this is kept to a minimum.
BackYes, one of the great aspects of GO MTB is that each candidate is given a unique registration number which should be written in the inside of their logbook
If the candidate goes to a different centre they will not need to start the award again you can issue them with certificates from where they left off.
See - Using GO MTB to Work in Partnership.
BackAround 20 orientation days in Scotland per year. These can arranged on demand for your centre or group.
