This award is designed to showcase the amazing work which is being delivered outside of the formal club structure
It is aimed at groups/associations/people/hubs who come together for the benefit of their local MTB community (eg trail builders, participation programmes, volunteering).
The award recognises local communities who encourage and develop mountain biking in their area. If you think your community project should win this award - please complete an application form and get it in to us by the 4th November.
The Skelf Bike Park is Scotland's first truly city-centre, grass-roots-built, mountain bike facility. An exciting new bike skills park in central Edinburgh - suitable for people of all ages - BMX, mountain bike, scooters, roller blades, balance bikes - anything with wheels is welcome!
The centrepiece of the park is our gorgeously curvaceous, deliciously multi-line, 900m2 asphalt-surfaced VeloSolutions pump track, which we relentlessly shoe-horned into a perfect natural amphitheatre on the site (with Salisbury Crags as a none-too-shabby backdrop).
The project started from very humble beginnings way back in 2012, when two local riders met at the school gate & started to blether about doing something about the lack of nearby riding spots...
Over the next five years, what started off a plan to self build some cheeky guerilla trails in a nearby patch of derelict woodland, became a much more ambitious plan to develop a really innovative top-class facility that would cater to not just mountain bikers, but also BMXers, trials riders, skateboarders, skaters (and even Scooterers...).
