NEW DMBinS ABERDEENSHIRE MTB CO-ORDINATOR!

We are delighted to announce that we have recruited our second regional mountain bike development post to work in Aberdeenshire. This exciting new co-ordinator role is to lead, facilitate and manage the delivery of Aberdeenshire Mountain Biking Action Plan 2018 – 2020 as developed by the DMBinS Aberdeenshire Mountain Bike Cluster. The action plan has 4 interlinked workstreams which will help realise infrastructure development projects, help ensure the mountain bike community is more integrated into the care and development of a sustainable trail network, the growth potential of mountain bike tourism in the area and enhance the competitiveness of tourism businesses generally.

The post is funded through the Scottish Govt and EU through the LEADER programmes for North Aberdeenshire, South Aberdeenshire and Cairngorms and is match funded by Scottish Enterprise and Aberdeenshire Council.  The role will be based in one of the Aberdeenshire Council offices. Will Clarke will take up this role on the 11th June. 

Will is an enthusiastic mountain biker living in Aberdeenshire and is passionate about continuing the development of the sport and improving the offer in the Region. He has been a PE teacher and a regional and national development manager for Basketball Scotland and has a unique range of experiences and skills to bring to the role.

ABERDEENSHIRE TOURISM WORKSHOP  Aberdeen Already Offers Some Incredible Riding In The Area

This exciting free workshop is an event designed to bring local tourism businesses, bike shops, cafe's, accommodation providers, facilityproviders, guides/coaches/skills instructor - basically, anyone with an interest in creating a  together to increase the benefits they see from cyclists. The event is hosted by Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS) funded by LEADER and Scottish Enterprise.   

We will be announcing a full line-up in the next week but we will have amazing speakers from the world of mountain bike tourism development, events and it will be your chance to hear the plans to create a world class destination for mountain biking in Aberdeenshire.

We strongly encourage all local businesses to sign up and attend the workshop to learn how they can better benefit from visiting cyclists. From hotels, restaurants to physiotherapists, so many organisations can cater to cyclists. We are especially keen that all accommodation providers big or small can attend, because they will certainly benefit from learning about what is on offer to their guests. This event will take place on Tuesday the 19th June from 1-4 at The Barn, Burn O Bennie, Banchory AB31 5QA.

If you answered yes to either of the above, then come along to a clinic with Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland (MTBCOS), Elevator - Aberdeen and DMBinS on Wednesday 20th June 2018 at Elevator - Aberdeen, Aberdeen Energy Park, The Hub, Exploration Dr, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen AB23 8GX.

The clinics are your opportunity to meet 1:1 with MTBCoS, Edinburgh Napier University and DMBinS to discuss your ideas and how we can possibly help. We will be offering one-hour slots, meaning you don’t have to take a whole day away from the office. This is a totally informal, non-committal opportunity to allow you to start exploring possibilities….so what have you got to lose?
