Scotland's natural heritage is its wildlife, habitats, landscapes and natural beauty. Scotland is renowned for its attractive scenery and wild places and has a huge diversity of landscapes, habitats and wildlife. These are part of what makes Scotland special and are among the country's greatest assets.

Scottish Natural Heritage is funded by the Scottish Government. Our purpose is to:
• promote care for and improvement of the natural heritage
• help people enjoy it responsibly
• enable greater understanding and awareness of it
• promote its sustainable use, now and for future generations.

SNH's work is about caring for the natural heritage, enabling people to enjoy it, helping people to understand and appreciate it, and supporting those who manage it.

Our aspiration is for the natural heritage to be used and managed sustainably. Our Natural Heritage Futures documents set out a vision for what Scotland's natural heritage could be like in 2025, and how that could be achieved. Moving towards that vision will require action by a wide range of organisations and individuals.
